I was recently in St Albert conducting a house trip with my wife for my upcoming move back to Edmonton in July. When I was informed of my potential transfer back to Edmonton, I searched for a potential realtor. I came across a listing of full-time professional realtors who are experienced with government transfer criteria from a flyer listed as cross-country relocation. On this flyer, I came across Ian Robertson?s name and contact information.

When I established contact with Ian and requested him as my realtor for my purchase of a house he was very quick to respond and in a professional manner. Immediately upon our initial contact I received a comprehensive package of misc information on the properties in the Edmonton and St Albert area from his assistant Wilda Cooper. Periodically Wilda would keep me updated with the most current listings based on my criteria.

Upon receipt of my official posting message and establishment of my house hunting trip (HHT) dates, I re-established contact with Ian to have his guarantee that I would be dealing solely with him and not numerous realtors since I had only a very short period of 5 days to find a house. Ian, in turn gave me his guarantee and we were well prepared to contact the HHT between the period of 17-23 April 04.

When my wife, Kathy and I arrived and commenced our HHT on 18 Apr we found Ian to be extremely well prepared and very coordinal. We looked at several houses mainly in the St Albert area and a few in the north Edmonton area. We found Ian to have a very sound knowledge of the areas and a good grasp on what the properties should sell for and what would potentially be good resale properties. Upon completion of our second day of house hunting we came up with a very good list of potential house from which to choice from and put a bid on a house on 20 April.

We were informed from Ian that there was a pending offer on the house. Ian in turn was informed by the seller's realtor (Remax Realtor) that there were so many conditions on the house that the people who put the bid on the house could not possibly remove all of them in the next twenty-four hours and that we should put a bid in for the house. We took her recommendation and made an offer, which was accepted by the seller. Kathy and were very elated to have agreed upon a house which met all of our criteria and price. However, when we arrived later that night back to our hotel room we received a phone call from Ian stating that the original buyers removed all of their conditions, signed a waiver and bought the house. Needless to say my wife was extremely upset and very concerned that we may not find another house, which we could both agree upon.

Despite this setback Ian worked well into the evening of 20 April and early 21 April to find potential houses for Kathy and I to review. Essentially we were starting all over. With the environment being somewhat solemn, Ian did try to lighten the mood with a few jokes to bring up our spirits. As a result mainly due to the efforts of Ian and his assistant Wilda, we were able to find another house and purchased it prior to our departure on 23 April. It is not exactly the perfect fit the original house was but with some work will be a good purchase.

Furthermore, despite this setback and major screw up on the other Realtor's behave, Ian took the initiative to rebook our appointments with the Home Inspectors and the Lawyers. He had to draw upon a number of favors to make this happen in less than twenty-four hours.

In summary, I would like to reiterate the outstanding work and effort Ian demonstrated during the week of 17-23 April. His professional knowledge base of realty, dogged work ethic, and initiative make him a definite asset to your Remax Team. When Monika and I were looking for a realtor in the Edmonton area, we looked to Ian Robertson and his relocation team. We found Ian's name from a National realtor listing who specialized in family relocation in their respective areas. Considering that the list of realtors in the Edmonton area was endless, how did we know that we had chosen the right realtor for our needs. So we gave it a try, I checked out his web site and it was pretty impressive, all the information that we needed was there. Buying and selling options and pointers were listed as well as any question that we needed answered was there.

Ian has a long history in real estate and he brings forth his expertise with everything that he does. We emailed Ian in order to introduce ourselves and pass on to him of our interests. We told him the criteria of the home in which we would be looking for when we were actually hunt for a house. He wasn't pressured in getting our business but followed up on occasion when some good listings became available.

Ian/Wilda and Connie responded quickly with emailed listings and in quick time, we received a package sent via courier, with everything that anyone would possibly require about a new city (ie; maps, clubs, organizations, sites of interest, school listings, etc). Ian's quick response was very professional. Ian and his team was quick to respond to our email and later followed up with a telephone call.

Prior to our arrival to the city of Edmonton, we were unsure as to where we wanted to live, however we did favour Saint Albert.

Ian and his team knew the city like the back of their hand. As soon as we arrived at his office on the day of our arrival from Victoria, Ian had a schedule planned out for house visits and right away we were ready for viewing. Ian knew that time was critical and couldn't be wasted. We also had to act quick because the market was starting to pick up. It wasn't long before we were in and out of over 12 houses on the first day and half that on the next day. He had a great house grading system, and was very effective. We knew we had found the house and location that we were looking for. A fine negotiator in working out the best deal possible. Ian had a great home inspector lined up, knowing that time was of the essence. All of the remaining details of closing the deal were completed with the least amount of impact on the family, so that our remaining days in Edmonton were of little stress.

He did not tell us what we wanted to hear about a house but told us how each of the houses that he showed would fit within our family needs. He would tell a house like it was and not just promote the good things and just wait for us to figure out the not so good. This is a good business trait that is not often duplicated. He was interested in taking the time and ensuring of satisfying what we wanted as a family and not just seeking a quick sale. Even if a house in St Albert didn't work, he would have worked with us on a possible home in Fort Sask.

Right from the beginning, to the end, Monika and I were treated with the utmost of excellent service and great business professionalism. For anyone that would be seeking a real estate team in order to solve their property buying or selling needs, I would not hesitate to recommend the fine professionals, none other than: Ian Robertson, Wilda Cooper and Connie Lausen.
